That’s brilliant news Jane . Welcome home Ross ! Loads of love , C, S, A & Z x

Hi Ross, been thinking of you lots (thanks so much for creating this page, Jane, & for all the pics & updates ❤️). I’m so hugely sorry you’re having to go through this experience, & am just hoping you’re keeping as sane as can be in what I imagine must be such a painful & frustrating time (understatement). Looking back for this photo, I couldn’t believe it’s only been 3 years since we met! It feels much longer. Maybe because I’ve known your dad & sister Jo in their professional capacities for nigh on 30 years! But I suspect it’s more because I was welcomed with such incredible warmth by you & Jane. You & your family have been such a gift to Lancaster - creating a fabulous social network, & enthusiastically supporting so many events. I’m just hoping that your zest, passion for life, strength, big heartedness, & gorgeous family are helping you to navigate this tough time (as if the year isn’t extraordinary enough as it is!) Thinking of you & sending you strong wishes for good progress, some peace in your heart, & a steady recovery. You strike me as totally being able to achieve what you set your mind to, Ross - you can do this, no doubt. Just hope you remember to rest too, & let it all take the time that it needs. Looking forward to seeing you again soon. Big love to you - & to you & the kids too, Jane. Debs xx

Hi Ross. I was listening to interesting new music today and thinking that I wanted to share it with you- so I'm guessing I'm missing my music buddy. There aren't any gigs on at the moment so you aren't missing too much (apart from the wee pandemic thingy - which isn't the name of a post- punk band BTW)- but if I was attending a gig without you it wouldn't be the same- but then I'd have to tell you it was the best gig ever anyway! We are all thinking of you and send you and your lovely family all of our love. Looking forward to that first pint we are going to have. Massive hugs. Ian, Bridget and Lily xxxx

Hi Ross, I was shocked and sorry to hear about your accident and, like everyone else, just want to pass on my best wishes and let you know I'm thinking of you, willing you on. At the Strathclyde reunion it was a pleasure to meet up again after 30 years - you had not changed at all, still full of life and daft as a brush! We will share a beer again but in the meantime good luck and sincere thanks to Jane and family for posting these updates. Best, David aka Dave Moh-ran

Ross, Jane and all the family. We are all thinking of you even if we don’t add lots of messages. Hope and faith in the future are essential and you have them both in spades.

Best of luck in your recovery Ross, sending as much positivity as I can in your (and your family's) direction. If anyone can get through this, you can, you've got that retirement to look forward to and converting the rest of the world to veganism, atheism and crosswords (amongst other passionate subjects)! You're an inspiration to all of us back at CS, and we miss you lots. I'm guessing Windsor tri will be off now anyway, so you have some time to recover and get yourself ready for a challenge in the future. Lots of love, Annie

Hi Ross, needless to say I’m expecting you back to coding ASAP – don’t forget we’ve got a Pluralsight plug-in to take live! Don’t leave me like a clown to try to do it on my own do you hear?

I have been involved in further construction time efforts to make the perfect sandwich you’ll be pleased to hear, and the recipe I learned from you is still perfection itself! Vegan 100% plant-based obviously. Thanks to you I never dream of consuming the carcasses of other animals nor their secretions! Love you for that.

I hear you were attempting The Guardian crossword as usual which I find quite impressive just days after bashing your head in, but I expect Nigel will take more effort to convince.

I can tell you must have quite a job on your hands recovering from this, so it is an enormous comfort to remember that you are an extremely belligerent sod. Totally love you Ross, you have a brilliant family and I expect they’d be camped out there full time until you get your ass home if it were not for this extremely irritating COVID-19 nonsense. I’ll be keeping an eye on this page so I expect to hear good things in the near future. Keep up the good work. May you soon be well.

Lots of love Phil X

Ross - Gary pinged me - really sorry to hear about the accident and hope you are on the mend. My neighbour had a similar thing on her bike a few years back and has been fine for ages. It just takes a while.

My lay-off is going well as I’m treating it as a tech sabbatical; modernising my Java, getting hands on with some middleware and going for a coupes of AWS certifications.

Lou and I have both had CV we think, but who knows without a test! Otherwise we’re all good at home, but tired of the lockdown.

All the best and a speedy recovery.
