From Carolyn's dad David: "Carolyn is being discharged this morning from her rehab hospital, The Cle...veland Clinic, where she has been since May 7. The staff and treatment here were excellent, and her recovery since the car crash on April 10th has been remarkable. Further recovery will continue at their home in north London. Her family is looking forward to having her back. Carolyn is especially grateful to everyone for all the thoughts and prayers since the accident."Read moreless

Update
Just returning from an appointment to see Carolyn’s surgeons. It’s been nearly two months since the ...accident, and as of today, Carolyn is now allowed to remove her ankle protection and walk around normally! She’s continuing to make great progress, and she’s looking forward to visiting home again this weekend and spending more time with the kids and doggy.Read moreless

From Carolyn’s dad David: “ Carolyn is walking again, with less external support every day. She’s o...ut of the hospital bed often, sitting in a chair and moving about more and more. Much of it is still very uncomfortable, but she can do it. Her rehab therapists have been doing a great job, and Carolyn (as always) is a determined pupil.”Read moreless

Note from Carolyn's dad David: "Friday was a very good day. We love the new hospital and all the ca...re and attention the staff provides. Today Carolyn was presented with “the boot”; a stiff supportive piece of footwear, resembling a more-comfortable version of a ski boot, that allows Carolyn to place her weight on her broken and still-healing lower right leg. Within minutes, they had her up and out of bed… and walking! She was *so happy*… as were we!"Read moreless

A note from Carolyn's dad: "After her terrible car crash, Carolyn was taken to one of the UK’s best ...traumas centers… The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel (East London). We will always be grateful for the expert critical care she received from their experienced team of doctors and nurses and other emergency personnel.
After about 10 days, she was moved from intensive care into a trauma ward. She had many excellent caregivers there. She was still receiving good care, but the pace of treatment slowed and it was apparent that it could take a long time to get the degree of rehabilitation that Carolyn would need.
The law firm that Carolyn works for provides extensive private medical insurance. Her husband Bobby found a highly rated private hospital that is widely acknowledged to have excellent rehabilitation services. On Wednesday she was transferred to the new facility, near Buckingham Palace and Victoria Station. She is excited to begin active work on her recovery."Read moreless

Update
Carolyn has made good progress in the past week. She has been able to get out of bed at last and sit... in a wheelchair, a big milestone! She's also enjoyed having conversations with visitors. The other day she made a 5 point plan for how to get out of hospital which we put up on the wall. It's great to see her usual fire and drive showing through again! Read moreless

Update
It’s been a while since we posted here, since the site was down for a long time. But now it looks li...ke it’s back up and this part has been restored.
Carolyn emerged from her coma and she’s been talking to friends and family for the last two weeks. She’s still bed bound and getting frustrated with not being able to move, but we can see that she is making good progress on all fronts. She’s come a long way since the initial accident, and she’s still fighting hard all the way. Read moreless

An update from David, Carolyn’s dad: “ Today’s update (Tuesday 15th) on Carolyn’s condition: She co...ntinues to look better, eyes opening wider and for longer periods at a time. She responds more often to the sound of our voices. Her gaze, while more open still does not track or seem to focus on the speaker. The neurologist said the next step that they’re looking for is for Carolyn to be able to track a bright light with her eyes, and to begin to respond to commands and requests. When she shows that improvement, they’ll take her off the tubes and the ventilator… Which would be a great improvement in her comfort.”Read moreless

Update
Update from Carolyn’s sister Jenny: “Four days ago my oldest sister, Carolyn was in a serious car ac...cident. My parents, two other sisters and myself got on the next flight out to London to be with her. She has been in a coma since she was brought into the hospital. A few days ago I wasn’t sure if I would ever get to tell her how much I love her and tell how much she means to all of us. Today while we were visiting she started to open her eyes and tried to reach for all the tubes in her mouth. She is currently intubated and is disoriented but just seeing her regain some consciousness today was a promising sign. The paramedic who was at the scene of the accident and brought her to the hospital visited her today and talked with us. He said that he is amazed at seeing her today and the progress she has made. He really didn’t think she was going to make it to the hospital. He told us she is made of something special unlike any human he has seen. He wanted to make sure her kids knew what a fighter she is and how strong she is. We know this about Carolyn. She has more determination and grit than anybody I know. Over the last few days we have received so many mixed messages from medical professionals- some of optimism and others of concern and it’s been a rollercoaster of emotions. We still don’t know the extend of her injuries or what kind of recovery she will be able to make but today we are hopeful. We and others can see she is made of something special.”Read moreless

Update
Update written by Carolyn's father, David: "An update from today’s visit: Carolyn regained conscious...ness during the last couple of hours of our visit. That is the most hopeful thing that has happened since the crash. She’s not fully conscious or fully lucid, but her eyes were open and fixed on us. But we know she is on a long road to recovery. Tomorrow we’re having a meeting with one of her lead doctors who will give us a comprehensive overview of all the other injuries and what the plan will be going forward.
The air ambulance medic who was flown to the accident scene and was the first one to begin treating her looked us up today and briefed us on what he had found. At first he didn’t believe she would last 4 minutes and would never make it to the hospital. But he stuck with her and he saw her fighting to stay alive. When he heard about her progress during the last four days he was very pleased and optimistic. We all thanked him profusely for the great work that he and his fellow medics performed that day. There are many wonderful people in this flawed world.
Thank you all for your prayers and the outpouring of love for Carolyn. We believe that God is watching over her and are hopeful for her eventual recovery."Read moreless

Update
Carolyn was admitted to a London major trauma centre where she has been receiving treatment in the I...CU. She was originally placed under a medically induced coma, to help her body to recover. A few days ago the coma-inducing medications were withdrawn, but she still hasn't woken up yet. Yesterday there were some initial flickers of movement when we visited, which was encouraging. The doctors are saying that it's still early, and we need to remain patient and positive. Read moreless
